There are steep learning curves, and then there is Neurology. Because the learning curve is practically vertical, at least half of all medical trainees experience neurophobia — a fear of neural sciences and clinical neurology. The Neurophile was built to change that: a free, open-access platform offering evidence-based video lectures, primers, and case-based sessions covering all 10 core clerkship topics. Built by clinicians. Trusted worldwide.
After completing his neurological training at SUNY Downstate and a fellowship in Cerebrovascular Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Rybinnik joined Rutgers in 2013. As Clerkship Director since 2014, he transformed the neurology rotation through a flipped-classroom curriculum grounded in cognitive science principles and hybrid simulation-based learning — reforms that more than doubled student interest in neurology.
He believes that great teaching begins with inclusivity and accessibility — that every learner, regardless of background or resources, deserves the opportunity to engage deeply with medicine and neurology. His goal is to equip trainees with the tools to think critically, appraise information rigorously, and navigate uncertainty with clarity, integrity, and compassion.
Beyond the clerkship, Dr. Rybinnik serves as Vice Chair of the RWJMS Curriculum Committee, delivers more than 50 invited lectures nationwide, and guides trainees nationally through the AAN Neurology Educator Track and Director Mentorship Leadership Program.
